Authors Who Speak Sell More Books

You Are An Author!

You are a wonderful author. The book you created is a wonderful book. You love the writing and creating processes of being an author. Unfortunately, there is also the selling part of the business. Hopefully, you were not one of those who didn’t know that selling your book was a major part of your resonsiblity. If you thought, as we did, that writing your book was the hard part, welcome to the real world. Gary Yamamoto, the co-author of this book, owned and ran a trade book publishing company. When he started, even he did not know that the author was responsible for book sales. It never dawned on him that an author who sells a lot of books is called a “bestselling author.” No author who sells a lot of books is ever called a “best-writing author.”

Ones and Twos

This is how most authors sell their books, by ones and twos. You try to sell your relatives who look at the book and say “thank you” assuming you are giving them a copy. Your friends will look at the book and then say a few nice words, such as, “nice cover” or “looks good.” Then they will return it to you or ask if you are giving them a copy. You put your book up on Amazon.com and hope someone see it and purchases it. Of course there are marketing methods where you can entice people to buy your book at a huge discount or free in hope of getting traffic. Hopefully your book is a Kindle book that costs you nothing to produce.

Groups Want Speakers

There are a lot of groups who meet and would love to have someone give a speech. As an author, you are an expert on some topic. Think of who would want to hear you talk about your favorite topic. There are so many groups that meet once or twice a month. Some are business groups. Others meet on a social basis or focus on doing charitable work. Then there are the groups who are into a specific hobby or a specific interest, such as bird watching. Think of how you can possibly angle your topic to be of interest to any or all of these groups. Of course, you will probably not be paid, except they may feed you breakfast or lunch. But this does not matter-- your purpose is to have to opportunity to sell your book to members of the audience.

Why Are We Experts

The co-authors are experts at selling books. Andrea Gold has been president of a speakers bureau and has sold stacks of books to her clients. Gary Yamamoto has been speaking for over 30 years and shares his techniques for selling books. But their expertise is not enough. So they have collected the wisdom of others professional speakers. What is included in their book Authors Who Speak Sell More Books is a how-to manual on selling book before, during, and after a speech. These techniques, using what professional speakers use, has resulted in the sales from a few dozen books to many thousands of copies. There are some speaker who make more money from book sales than from their speaking fee, which can be in the thousands.

The Choice Is Yours

We know you may or may not be a professional speaker. But you can use the techniques of the pros to increase your book sales. Pushing your book and selling one or two is so disheartening. We know that your book is valuable. You put your heart and soul into creating it. The information is valuable to the audience you were writing for. So it’s time to make a small investment to increase your sales and the resultant income.
